How to Use LPL AccountView

Hi, my name is Justin Campbell, and today I’m going to walk you through your Account View online portal. This is your central hub for viewing your investments, accessing documents, and transferring funds. My goal is to show you the most important features, answer common questions, and help you feel confident using the platform. When you first log in, you’ll land on the main dashboard. This gives you a high-level view of your accounts, including your total balance and a snapshot of daily performance in both dollars and percentage. On the left-hand side, you’ll see a list of your accounts. You can click into any individual account to view more detailed information. As you scroll down, you’ll see a chart showing your account value over time. This includes how much you’ve contributed, how your investments have performed, and the overall growth of your portfolio. You’ll also see your top holdings and a breakdown of your investments by asset class, such as U.S. stocks, bonds, alternatives like commodities or Bitcoin, and cash. In some cases, investments may appear as unclassified if the system cannot fully categorize them. Further down, you’ll find market data, including major indexes like the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500, giving you context on how the broader market is performing. You also have the option to link external accounts such as bank accounts, credit cards, or mortgages so you can view your full financial picture in one place. If you want more detail, simply click on an individual account. You’ll see unrealized gains or losses, overall performance, and a breakdown of each investment. You can expand those investments to see when purchases were made and how each position has performed over time. You can also filter which accounts you want to view using the dropdown, allowing you to focus on specific accounts or combinations of accounts. Another important feature is access to your documents. This includes statements, tax forms, trade confirmations, and reports. Within the statements section, you can view consolidated statements across all accounts, download them, and access prior years as needed. This is especially helpful for recordkeeping, tax preparation, or estate planning. There is also a secure file area where you can upload documents to share with our office. This ensures your personal information is sent safely rather than through email. Trade confirmations allow you to review any buy or sell activity, including rebalancing. The tax documents section provides access to any forms you may need for your accountant. The reports section includes any custom reports we’ve prepared for you. One very important setting is your paperless preference. In the top right corner, you can choose whether to receive documents electronically or by mail. We typically recommend paperless, as you’ll receive email notifications when documents are available and can access them anytime through the portal. Another feature available is transferring money. If your bank account is linked, you can move funds from your bank into your investment account directly through the portal. You simply select the accounts, enter the amount, review, and submit. Transfers out of investment accounts require coordination with our office since investments may need to be sold first. The platform also includes financial calculators for retirement, savings, spending, and insurance. These are optional tools you can explore if you’d like to run different scenarios. I also recommend downloading the mobile app, called My Account View. It’s available for both iPhone and Android and allows you to quickly check your accounts on the go. It supports features like face authentication for easy access. Within the portal, you’ll also find a team section with our contact information, as well as settings where you can rename accounts or hide accounts with zero balances.
