How to Set Up Your LPL AccountView Online

Hi, my name is Justin Campbell and today we're going to be going through a little walkthrough of My Account View Online, which is your client portal to be able to see all of your investments, get your documents, and even transfer money. I wanted to take a little bit of time to walk through each of the various pages that are important and hopefully make it a little clearer on the things that you can do and remove any doubt or questions you may have about dealing with the technology. Hopefully, you'll find it helpful and easy to use. So, let’s get started. Once you log in, this is the main screen you're going to see. We have a sample client shown here with approximately $61,000 invested. All of the accounts are listed on the left side. You can click on each account individually to see more detailed information. This overview screen gives you a snapshot of your portfolio. At the time this example was recorded, the market was down, so you can see both the dollar amount and percentage your portfolio changed for the day. If you scroll down a bit further, you’ll see the value of your accounts over time. In this example, the client started the year with approximately $256,000, deposited a little under $300,000, and had investment returns of about $54,000 during that time. The graph helps show what you have contributed versus what your investments have earned. In this example, the client was dollar-cost averaging over the last year, and during periods of volatility — such as the tariff concerns in April — they were able to make good purchases and ultimately move back into positive returns. As you continue scrolling, you’ll see your top holdings and asset allocation breakdown. This section shows how much of your account is invested in areas such as U.S. stocks, bonds, cash, alternatives, and more. Sometimes “Unclassified” includes products like annuities or investments the system cannot easily categorize. Further down, you’ll also see market information such as the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 so you can quickly view how the general market is performing. You can also link personal checking accounts, savings accounts, credit cards, mortgages, and loans to create a more complete financial dashboard. Additionally, there is a research section that includes information and commentary from LPL, our back office, regarding market activity and economic trends. If you want to view a specific account in more detail, simply click on that account. Once it loads, you’ll see unrealized gains or losses since the investments were made. By clicking the arrows, you can drill down further to see individual investments, purchase dates, gains, and performance details. This is a great tool for reviewing how specific investments are performing within your account. You can also customize which accounts are displayed by using the account dropdown menu. You can select all accounts or only specific ones that you want to view. Another important section is the Documents tab. This area contains statements, tax forms, trade confirmations, and reports. Under Statements, you can select which accounts to display and download consolidated statements directly from the portal. You can also access prior years’ statements whenever needed. The My Files section allows you to securely upload and send documents to us. While we often use another secure portal, this is still a safe option for sharing personal or sensitive information instead of using regular email. Trade Confirmations allow you to view purchases, sales, and account rebalancing activity. The Tax Forms section is especially important during tax season. Depending on your accounts, your tax documents will appear here and can be downloaded for your accountant. The Reports tab contains consolidated reports we prepare for you, such as year-to-date or trailing 12-month performance summaries. One feature we highly recommend is enabling paperless delivery. In the top-right corner, you can access your paperless settings and choose whether you prefer electronic delivery or mailed statements. If paperless delivery is enabled, you’ll receive an email notification whenever new statements become available, and you can log in at any time to download them. You can also transfer money into your investment accounts directly through the portal, provided your bank account has already been linked. To do this, simply select the investment account you want to fund, choose the linked bank account, enter the amount, review the transfer, and submit it. At this time, transfers can only move money into investment accounts. Withdrawals require us to sell investments first, so those requests still need to go through our office. There are also several calculators available within the portal, including retirement, savings, spending, and insurance calculators. These tools can help you estimate and plan various financial goals. We also highly recommend downloading the My Account View Online mobile app. It is available for both iPhone and Android devices and allows you to securely access your investments on the go. The app supports biometric login options such as Face ID, making access quick and convenient. There is also a Team section where you can view our contact information and a Settings section where you can customize account names, hide zero-balance accounts, and manage additional preferences.
